Ag. Society set to host parade with Optimists meal in lieu of Brussels Fall Fair

The Brussels Agricultural Society, in light of the cancellation of the annual Brussels Fall Fair, is hosting a parade and home and business decorating contest next weekend.
Set for Sept. 20, the event will see groups take part by decorating their homes, businesses or parade floats in the theme of what the fair means to them.
Numerous prizes are available for those in the parade including:
• Best float by a group or organization
• Best theme float
• Most unique motorized vehicle
• Best decorated fire truck,
• Best themed costume
• Best dressed bike
• Best dressed horse and rider
• Float with the most animals.
Decorative bows were available to help support the agriculture society.
Judging of the decorations will take place after the parade, which starts at 2 p.m.
Prizes for decorations include:
• Best use of Brussels Agricultural Society colours
• Most unique display
• Best display using farm implements
• Best animal display
• Best harvest theme.

The Brussels Optimist Club has also stepped up to host a smoked pork chop barbecue after the parade. The drive-through meal will begin at 4 p.m. and you will have to have a ticket if you want to eat that night. Tickets are $15 each and, at the time of writing, were already 75 per cent sold out.
