Blyth Brussels Crusaders look past Christmas and into new year

Members of the Blyth Brussels Crusaders have just a handful of games left before they bid farewell to 2022 and welcome 2023 with open arms.
Local teams aren’t in action again until after Christmas, with the U13 Rep and U15 Rep Crusaders heading to Kincardine to take part in the regional Silver Stick Tournament. The U13 team will take on the Arran Elderslie Ice Dogs and the Wingham Ironmen on Dec. 27, the first day of the tournament, while the U15 Rep team will play the Wingham Ironmen and the Shallow Lake Lakers that day.
On Dec. 28, the U13 Rep and U15 Rep teams will then both play South Grey teams in more tournament action.
On Friday, Dec. 30, the U8 Burgundy and Black teams will be in Wingham to play in the Wingham Jamboree one-day tournament.
On Monday, Jan. 2, ushering in the new year, the U18 Rep and U21 teams will both make the trip to Shallow Lake for games against the Lakers. Then, on Wednesday, Jan. 4, the U13 Local League team will welcome the Wingham Ironmen to Blyth.
As for the past week’s action, the U11 Rep team lost to the Mid-Huron Huskies in Hensall on Monday night, while the U15 Local League Crusaders beat the Goderich Sailors by a score of 6-0 and the U18 Local League team beat the Mitchell Meteors by a score of 2-1. Both games were played in Blyth.
On Sunday, Dec. 18, the U11 Rep team lost by a score of 5-1 to the Minto Mad Dogs, while the U11 Local League Burgundy team had better luck, defeating the Central Perth Predators in Blyth by a score of 3-2.
The U8 Black and Burgundy teams both played in half-ice action against the Seaforth Stars in Blyth, but scores were not kept for those games.
On Saturday, Dec. 17, the U13 Local League team played in the Canadian Tire Cup Tournament in Hanover, but scores were unavailable at press time.
The U6 team hosted the Howick Hornets in Blyth, but a score was not kept for that game. The U7 Black and Burgundy teams played Huron Heat teams in Blyth, while the U9 team played the Wingham Ironmen Yellow team in Brussels, but scores were not kept for those games.
The U15 Rep Crusaders played the Lakers in Shallow Lake, but lost by a score of 7-4, while the U13 Rep team was able to find a win, beating the Central Perth Predators in Brussels by a score of 7-2.
On Friday, Dec. 16, the U11 Local League Black and U21 teams both posted wins in Brussels, a 6-5 over the Goderich Sailors Black team for the U11 team and a 2-1 win over the Arthur Vipers for the U21 Crusaders. The U11 Local League Burgundy team was on the road that night to take on the Goderich Sailors White team in Goderich. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The U8 Black team was in Goderich to play the Sailors that night, but a score was not kept for that game.
On Tuesday, Dec. 13, the U15 Rep team beat the Mitchell Meteors in Brussels by a score of 8-2, while the U18 Rep team lost to the Bruce Peninsula Predators by a score of 6-4, also in Brussels.
