Blyth Brussels U11 Crusaders reach finals in O'Reilly Youth Cup

The Blyth Brussels U11 Rep Crusaders were ‘B’ finalists in the Ryan O’Reilly Youth Challenge Cup in Goderich over the weekend.
At noon on Friday, Nov. 4, the Crusaders played to a 2-2 tie against the host Goderich team before finding themselves on the wrong side of a 7-2 decision against the Hanover Falcons on Saturday. The team rebounded with a 6-5 victory over Mid-Huron, also on Saturday, before being edged out in the consolation finals by South Huron on Sunday by a score of 2-1. Walkerton claimed the trophy over the Hanover Falcons 3-1. The Local League championship trophy went to South Bruce with a 4-3 victory over Wingham Blue, while Zurich claimed the Local League consolation trophy with a 5-2 win over the Mid-Huron 2 team.
In other Crusaders action, the U15 Local League Crusaders claimed a 6-1 win over the Minto Mad Dogs in Palmerston on Nov. 3.
On Nov. 4, the U21 Crusaders were downed 8-4 by the Central Perth Predators in Brussels.
The next day, the U15 Rep Crusaders posted a 6-3 win over the Drayton Defenders on the road, while the U18 Local League team fell to the Mid-Huron Huskies 2 team 8-1 in Seaforth.
On Nov. 5, scores were unavailable for the following games: U9 Crusaders hosting the Huron-Bruce Blizzard 2 team in Blyth, the U7 Burgundy Crusaders hosting the Listowel Cyclones in Brussels and the U7 Black Crusaders taking on the Listowel Cyclones on the road.
On Sunday, Nov. 6, the U11 Black Crusaders posted a 3-1 win over the Mid-Huron Huskies 3 team in Hensall, while the U15 Local League Crusaders were edged out by the Mount Forest Rams 5-4 in a road game. The U13 Rep Crusaders were also downed 5-4 by Drayton on the road.
The U11 Burgundy Crusaders posted a 2-1 win over the Wingham Ironmen Yellow squad in Blyth, while the U21 Crusaders played to a scoreless tie against the Hanover Falcons in Hanover.
On Nov. 6, scores were unavailable for the U8 Black Crusaders versus the Wallace Sabres in Blyth and the U8 Burgundy Crusaders versus the Zurich Thunder in Zurich.
On Monday, Nov. 7, the U13 Local League Crusaders were set to take on the Central Perth Predators on the road, the U15 Local League team was set to host the Arthur Vipers in Blyth and the U18 Rep Crusaders were set to take on the Listowel Cyclones in Blyth. Scores of those games were unavailable as of press time.
On Nov. 8, the U11 Rep Crusaders were set to be on the road against the West Grey Warriors. On Nov. 9, the U13 Rep Crusaders hosted the Wingham Ironmen in Blyth. Scores were unavailable for those games as of press time.
This weekend, the U11 Burgundy team is set to host the South Bruce Blades in Brussels at 7 p.m. on Friday night. Also that night, the U11 Black Crusaders will take on the Goderich Sailors on the road at 7 p.m. while the U13 Local League Crusaders travel to Howick to take on the Hornets at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m. that night, the U21 Crusaders will face off against the Arthur Vipers in Brussels.
Crusaders action on Saturday, Nov. 12 will include the U7 Burgundy team visiting Seaforth at 8 a.m., the U6 Crusaders hosting the Mitchell Meteors in Brussels at 9 a.m., the U7 Black Crusaders hosting the Howick Hornets at 11 a.m. in Brussels, the U11 Burgundy Crusaders taking on the Mid-Huron Huskies 3 team in Hensall at 12:30 p.m. and the U15 Local League Crusaders hosting the Howick Hornets in Brussels at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, Nov. 13, the U8 Burgundy Crusaders will host the Kincardine Kinucks at 3 p.m. in Blyth, while the U8 Black Crusaders will travel to Zurich for a 3:30 p.m. road game. The U11 Black Crusaders will also make their way to Zurich for a 4:30 p.m. match. The U11 Rep Crusaders will host the Minto Mad Dogs in Blyth at 6 p.m. that day.
On Monday, Nov. 14, the U18 Rep Crusaders will host the Hanover Falcons T3 squad in Blyth at 9 p.m. On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the U18 Local League Squad will face off against the Mount Forest Rams at 8:30 p.m. in Brussels.
On Wednesday, Nov. 16, the U13 Rep Crusaders will take on the Drayton Defenders in Blyth at 7:30 p.m.
