Blyth Festival Art Gallery exhibits to begin June 5
The Blyth Festival Art Gallery’s virtual showcase, where participating artists can show and sell their work, is set to open on June 5.
Each week until Sept. 30, one or two artists will be featured on the gallery’s Facebook page and the Blyth Festival’s social media channels. Photos and details of up to six items of artwork per artist, along with prices, the artist’s biography and contact information will be posted.
The gallery has been accepting submissions to this exhibition and sale of art since early April. There will be no fee or commission for sales from the show. Asked why the gallery is not collecting a commission, Exhibition Chair Bruce Stainton said. “This pandemic has been a financial burden for people in the arts. At this time, the gallery can’t provide a physical space, nor staffing, payment facilities or shipping. We, as volunteers, consider it a duty to support the arts community in whatever way possible."
A schedule of featured postings will be announced at the time of the showcase opening. Using the contact information available on the Gallery’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/BlythFestivalArtGallery/, potential buyers can get directly in touch with the artist. It will be the responsibility of the artist to collect payment and arrange for pick up or delivery of the sold work, all under COVID-19 health guidelines. All negotiations will be the responsibility of the artist.
Each participant will ensure the availability of their featured art during their time slot in the showcase. If a submitted work of art is purchased, the gallery will be notified immediately so the piece can be indicated as sold, or that image may be replaced with another piece. Unfortunately, the showcase cannot accommodate any more submissions from artists.
With about 40 artists participating, this will be a wonderful opportunity for art lovers to add to their collection, to brighten living space in a home or cottage and to support the arts in the community.
