Brussels, Blyth Legions host closed Remembrance Day ceremonies
Branches of the Royal Canadian Legion marked Remembrance Day last week, but it will be a year many members will never forget due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the guidance of Huron Perth Public Health, Legions were advised to hold closed-to-the-public ceremonies and stream them online.
At the Brussels ceremony, Brussels Legion President Jamie Mitchell laid one of the few wreaths at the ceremony, with most being set up before the ceremony began.
The Blyth Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion held a small, simple Remembrance Day ceremony last week. On advice from provincial and national health officials, as well as the local Huron Perth Public Health, the ceremony was closed to the public, but Legion officials were able to still move ahead with a small celebration of remembrance, honouring the fallen on such a special day.
