The Huron County Fastball League has now entered the second round of its year-end playoffs, with the Brussels Tigers and Walton Brewers both advancing to the semi-finals.
The Brussels Tigers swept their series with the Wroxeter Rippers, winning the second game by a score of 8-0. They now take on the Fullarton A’s in the second round.
The A’s defeated the Wingham Hitmen in a series that went the distance. Fullarton defeated the Hitmen by a score of 8-6 in the third and deciding game of the series, ending Wingham’s season and moving the A’s into the second round.
The Brussels-Fullarton series is set to begin on Wednesday, Sept. 15 in Brussels with an 8:30 p.m. game. The second game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Friday in Fullarton with a third game, if necessary, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 19 in Brussels at 7 p.m.
The Belmore Stingers won their series over the Mitchell Junior Mets, edging the Junior Mets by one run in both games, winning by scores of 1-0 and 13-12.
The Stingers will now play the Walton Brewers, who defeated the Goderich Grizzlies on Monday night by a score of 2-1 in the third and deciding game of that series.
The Brewers and Grizzlies had games postponed due to rain, which meant they had to finish their series on Monday night. Each team won one of the first two games, pushing the series to a third and deciding game.
