'Citizen' Halloween contest winners revealed
BY DENNY SCOTT
The votes are in and The Citizen’s staff has decided which Halloween costumes impressed us the most.
With approximately 30 entries, most of which were in the Under-12 category, it was a difficult choice, but four winners were chosen.
In the Under-12 category, nine-year-old Sadie Toll captured the win dressed as “the old granny”.
Local cosplayer Ella Sawchuk captured the 12-18 category with her rendition of Miss Frizzle from The Magic School Bus, specifically the episode of the beloved classic show where Frizzle’s class learns about bees.
The 18+ category was taken by Jackie and Kris DeWit who were dressed, respectively, as a scarecrow and an Oktoberfest reveler.
Brenda Empey submitted the winning photo for the Pets category. She dressed her family dog BJ as a crow to be able to join the all-crow-based home security system.
Each winner will receive a prize from The Citizen and our sincere thanks for taking part.
As for the rest of the cute, spooky and spectacular costumes, they will be available for viewing online at huroncitizen.ca as well as spread throughout this issue of The Citizen. Thank you to all who contributed.
