Huron Heat teams impress in Woodstock tournament

With the calendar turning from 2022 to 2023, the Huron Heat girls’ hockey teams are back in action.
The U11C Heat opened their year with a game against the Central Perth Predators in Blyth on Jan. 5, but lost by a score of 3-1.
On the weekend, several local teams travelled to Woodstock for the annual Woodstock Wildcats Tournament. The U11 B Heat opened their tournament with a game against the Ayr Rockets, winning the contest by a score of 2-0. They would also claim victory in their second game of the tournament on Jan. 6, beating the Otonabee Wolverines by a score of 4-0.
The U15 C Heat were also in Woodstock for the tournament, losing their opening game to the Central Perth Predators by a score of 1-0, followed by a 3-1 win over the Woodstock Wildcats.
In their Woodstock tournament action, the U13 B Heat beat the Brantford Ice Cats by a touchdown (7-0), followed by a win over the Woodstock Wildcats by a score of 2-1.
The U13 B and U11 B Heat teams would keep up their winning ways in Woodstock on Jan. 7, beating the Norfolk Hericanes 4-0 and the Georgina Golden Hawks 5-0, respectively. The U11 B Heat would play again that day, facing the Golden Hawks again and beating them by a score of 2-0.
The U15 C Heat would lose their tournament game to the St. Marys Rock by a score of 4-1, but then follow it up with a 2-1 win over the Chatham-Kent Crush.
In non-tournament action, the U9 HL Black and White teams both travelled to Stratford for games against the Aces, but scores were not kept.
The U11 C Heat travelled to Kitchener for a game with the Lady Rangers, winning by a score of 3-0, while the U18 BB team lost by a score of 3-1 to the Devilettes in London.
The U13 B Heat would keep winning in Woodstock, claiming victory in their first game on Jan. 8 by a score of 2-1, followed by a 3-0 win over the St. Thomas Panthers in their final game of the tournament.
The U11 B Heat played the Ayr Rockets again in the tournament, winning by a score of 3-1 in their final game of the tournament.
The U15 C Heat closed out their tournament with a game against the St. Marys Rock, but a score was unavailable at press time.
In non-tournament action, the U9 B Heat played the Grand River Mustangs in Fergus, but a score was not kept. The U13 C Heat lost that day to the Central Perth Predators in Clinton by a score of 2-1.
The U15 BB Heat lost to the Ice Hawks in Owen Sound by a score of 2-1, while the U15 BB team was also in Owen Sound to play the Ice Hawks and the Senior team played Monkton at the Elma Logan Arena. Scores for the last two games were unavailable at press time.
On Jan. 10, the U11 B Heat and the U15 C Heat were both in action in Seaforth. The U11 B team was hosting the St. Marys Rock, while the U15 C Heat were playing the South Huron Sabres. Scores were unavailable at press time.
The U18 C Heat were in South Huron for a game against the Sabres on Jan. 12, but a score was unavailable at press time.
Looking ahead, the U11 HL Heat will be in Woodstock on Jan. 13 to play the Wildcats HL Black team, while the U18 C Heat will host the Lucan Irish in Seaforth.
On Saturday, Jan. 14, the U11 C Heat will travel to Central Perth for a game with the Predators, while the U13 B Heat will play the Wild in Woolwich.
The U11 HL team will host the B.A.D. Blazers HL team in Seaforth and the U18 BB Heat will host the Sarnia Lady Sting in Clinton.
The U11 B Heat will be on the road in London for a game with the Devilettes, while the U18 C team will be in South Huron to play the Sabres and the Senior team will travel to Milverton.
On Sunday, Jan. 15, the U9 HL Black team will play the Jets in Ilderton and the U11 B team will be in St. Marys for a game with the Rock.
The U15 BB Heat will be home in Clinton, hosting the Bluewater Hawks, followed by the U18 BB Heat hosting the South Huron Sabres, also in Clinton.
The U13 B Heat will host the Mount Forest Rams in Goderich, while the Senior team will welcome Belmore to the Hensall Arena.
The U9 B Heat will play the Woolwich Wild on the road, while the U18 C Heat will head to London for a game with the Devilettes and the U11HL team will play the Panthers in St. Thomas.
On Jan. 17, the U9 B team will host the London Devilettes in Seaforth, while, on Jan. 19, the U15 BB Heat will welcome the Walkerton Capitals to Blyth.
