In-person Brussels Terry Fox Run brings in $8,000

The Terry Fox Run in Brussels surpassed expectations by a wide margin according to organizer Gord Mitchell.
The event, held on Sunday, marked a return to an in-person activity after two years of virtual participation. Mitchell said the event brought in more participants than previous years and, with $8,000.30 raised, it was a very successful event.
The Optimist Club, running a boot toll near the sign-up station for the event at the organization’s clubhouse, brought in $2,900 alone, he said, while online donations helped as well.
Mitchell said the volunteers, including the Optimists, were well represented and that there were more than 40 participants in the event, and the Optimists provided a meal for those interested.
“It was really good, and that was thanks to the volunteers,” he said. “We’re pleased with how it turned out.”
