Coming soon: the biggest show in the country
Huron County will host a once-in-a-generation event this September when the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) comes to farms just south of Walton, September 19-23.
Huron will be hosting the 100th IPM, a huge show that features an instant city of tents and temporary buildings covering 100 acres of farmland. Add the land needed to park cars for 20,000 visitors a day, for a huge RV park and for the plowing competitions which are the reason for holding the huge show and the match requires the co-operation of local farmers willing to loan hundreds of acres for the big event.
This year’s IPM, the first held in Huron since the 1999 match in Dashwood, will also incorporate the Brussels Fall Fair, the first time a country fair has been part of the match.
