Kent Readman named new Huron East, North Huron Fire Chief
After an extensive recruitment process, the Municipality of Huron East and Township of North Huron are pleased to announce the hiring of Kent Readman as the new fire chief effective Dec. 6 as part of a continued shared service agreement between North Huron and Huron East. Readman will be working closely with retiring Fire Chief Marty Bedard in the early part of December to ensure a smooth transition of the department.
Readman has 20 years of experience in the volunteer fire service and has been in the role of fire chief for the past five years. Readman is also active as a Director on the Ontario Association of Fire Chief’s Board of Directors and has roots in Huron County. He was part of the Fire Department of North Huron until 2015, when he left to further advance his goal of becoming a fire chief.
Huron East Mayor Bernie McLellan stated, “the Municipality of Huron East is fortunate and values the qualifications, skills and experience Mr. Readman brings to the position. We look forward to working with Mr. Readman and wish to thank Fire Chief Bedard for his 29 years of service to the Municipality of Huron East.”
North Huron Reeve Bernie Bailey stated, “the Township of North Huron is excited to welcome Mr. Readman back to the North Huron Fire Department as fire chief. Mr. Readman’s interest in fire services began at a very early age and it is an honour to have him step into this leadership role. North Huron values and appreciates the shared service agreement with the Municipality of Huron East and we look forward to this continued shared services arrangement.”
