Season winding down for Huron County Fastball League

The Brussels Tigers remain in first place in the Huron County Fastball League standings with just two games left to play.
The Tigers sit with 36 points and a record of 18-2, riding an eight-game winning streak as the regular season draws to a close.
The Belmore Stingers, who have just one game left to play, sit with a record of 17-3-1 and 35 points.
After the top two teams, there is a six-point gulf. The Wingham Hitmen sit in third place with a record of 14-6-1 and 29 points with just one game left to play, followed by the fourth-place Milverton Millwrights with a record of 12-5 and 24 points, but with five games left on their schedule.
The Mitchell Mets are in fifth place with a record of 11-7-1, 23 points and three games left to play, followed by the Sebringville Sting in sixth place with 21 points, a record of 10-9-1 and two games left to play.
Below .500, the Monkton Muskrats are in seventh place with a record of 8-11 and 16 points with three games left on their schedule. The Walton Brewers have climbed into eighth place with a record of 7-11-1 and 15 points with three games left to play and the Fullarton A’s are in ninth place with a record of 7-12 and 14 points with three games left to play.
The Goderich Grizzlies are in 10th place with a record of 6-13 and 12 points with three games left to play, while the Wroxeter Rippers are 3-18 with six points in 11th place with just a single game left to play.
The Brussels Bangers remain in last place with a record of 2-17-1 and five points, having lost 10 straight games. They have two left to play.
On Aug. 31, the Belmore Stingers beat the Millwrights in Milverton by a score of 8-1. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 24.
Also that night, the Walton Brewers were in Fullarton and beat the A’s by a score of 13-6 in a game originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 15. The Monkton Muskrats beat the Sting in Sebringville by a score of 10-0 and the Milverton Millwrights hosted the Mitchell Mets, winning by a score of 9-6.
On Aug. 30, the Wingham Hitmen and Belmore Stingers clashed in Belmore, but neither team could distinguish itself from the other and the game ended tied at one. Also that night, the Brussels Bangers hosted the Mitchell Mets and lost by a score of 9-1.
On Aug. 29, the Monkton Muskrats were scheduled to host the Goderich Grizzlies, but that game was postponed and scheduled to be made up on Sept. 4, but a score for that game was unavailable at press time.
On Aug. 27, the Wingham Hitmen took on the Sebringville Sting on the road and won by a score of 8-1. Also that day, the Brussels Tigers beat the Brussels Bangers by a score of 5-1 in a game that was originally scheduled to take place on Aug. 18, the Milverton Millwrights beat the Rippers in Wroxeter by a score of 11-5, the Mitchell Mets beat the A’s in Fullarton by a score of 8-6 and the Goderich Grizzlies beat the Bangers in Brussels by a score of 6-4 in eight innings in a game originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 16.
On Aug. 25, the Brussels Tigers played the Sebringville Sting on the road and won by a score of 7-0 and the Brussels Bangers hosted the Belmore Stingers and lost by a score of 4-1. Also that night, the Walton Brewers beat the Monkton Muskrats in Monkton by a score of 6-2, the Fullarton A’s beat the Rippers in Wroxeter by a score of 19-4 and the Wingham Hitmen were in Goderich to beat the Grizzlies by a score of 9-0.
On Sept. 4, the Goderich Grizzlies were in Monkton to play the Muskrats in a game originally scheduled for Aug. 29, followed by the Grizzlies taking on the Fullarton A’s, also in Monkton, in a game rescheduled from Sept. 8, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
On Sept. 5, the Mitchell Mets were due to be in Walton to play the Brewers and the Fullarton A’s were scheduled to host the Milverton Millwrights, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
There were four games scheduled to be played on Wednesday, Sept. 4, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time. The Goderich Grizzlies were due to be in Belmore to play the Stingers, the Monkton Muskrats were due to host the Wingham Hitmen, the Mitchell Mets were scheduled to be in Brussels to play the Tigers and the Milverton Millwrights were scheduled to host the Wroxeter Rippers.
On Sept. 7, the Walton Brewers and Milverton Millwrights were scheduled to play a doubleheader of five-inning games with designated hitters in Milverton. One of the games was originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 29, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
On Sept. 8, the Brussels Tigers will be in Monkton to play the Muskrats and the Milverton Millwrights will be in Sebringville to play the Sting in a game originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 18.
On Sept. 10, the Fullarton A’s will host the Sebringville Sting in a game that was originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 29. Then, on Sept. 11, the last day for regular season games this year, the Brussels Bangers will be in Mitchell to play the Mets in a game originally scheduled to be played on Aug. 23.
The league’s year-end tournament is then scheduled to be played in Goderich on the weekend of Sept. 15-17.
