Team Canada, with Sebastian and Pauli, capture silver in New Zealand

Team Canada has earned a silver medal at the World Baseball Softball Confederation’s Men’s Softball World Cup in Auckland, New Zealand over the weekend.
The team includes Ty Sebastian of Brussels and Tyler Pauli of Seaforth.
In the opening round of the tournament, Team Canada downed Venezuela (3-2), Denmark (10-0), Jamaica (11-0), Australia (6-0) and Japan (9-2) to earn a berth in the Super Round.
After dominating the opening round of play, Team Canada posted two wins and a loss in the Super Round to earn a chance at the title. In the team’s first Super Round game, Canada edged out the United States 4-3, before falling to Argentina in a tight 5-4 game. The final game of the round was against Cuba, which Canada shut out 2-0.
Through the Super Round, Canada found itself face-to-face against Australia in the gold-medal game. During the opening round, Team Canada blanked Team Australia 6-0. This time, however, Australia came out swinging, besting Team Canada 5-2 and claiming the gold, which left Canada with the silver medal.
