Blyth hosts Huron County's largest used book sale

Blyth Memorial Hall is a book-lovers’ dream June 1-4 when thousands of used books overflow the tables in the lower hall meeting room.

A major fundraising event for the Blyth Festival for 40 years, the book sale usually has door-crashing lineups when it opens at 4 p.m., June 1 as bibliophiles and dealers search for hidden bargains. But there are so many books on hand (surplus books are stored in boxes under the tables that shoppers often search through) that there are plenty of treasures to be found right up until the last moment when the sale ends, Sunday, June 4 at 4 p.m. In fact, the bargains get extreme near the end when special sales are held.

Almost as much a tradition as the Blyth Festival Book Sale itself is the lunch counter which includes home-baked rhubarb pie.

This year will have added excitement in the new look of Memorial Hall after an eight-month, $4 million, top-to-bottom renovation of the building
