Bob Thornton

Bob Thornton, 88, of Mitchell, and formerly of Brussels, passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

 

The beloved husband of the late Carolyn Thornton (2011), Bob was the dear father of Steven Thornton (Patti) and Twyla Willis (Murray). He was the dear father-in-law of Jerry Cosstick, the loving grandfather of Michael (Serena), Steven (Amanda), Mark (Courtney), Ashley, Melissa (Terry), Tyler (Ashley) and Bailey (Kateri) and cherished great-grandfather of Cohen, Isabella, Alexander, Alayna and Sylvia. 

 

Bob was the dear brother-in-law of John Brant (Lynda), Sharon Tully, Brian Brant (Gloria), Deb Mills (Tim), Ed Brant (Wendy) and John Verellen. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

He was predeceased by his daughter Dianne Cosstick (2022), parents George and Ruth Thornton, sister Margaret Weiler (Art), sister-in-law Brenda Verellen and brothers-in-law Bob, Barry, Jim and Ron Brant.

 

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Lockhart Reception Centre, Mitchell on Friday, June 5 from 3-5 p.m.
