Brussels Bangers take over first place in fastball league

After a months-long hold on first place, the Sebringville Sting are now in fourth place in the Huron County Fastball League standings. In first? The Brussels Bangers.
With a record of 10-8, the Bangers are in first, tied at 20 points with the Mitchell Mets and their 9-4 record.
The Milverton Millwrights are in third place with 18 points and a record of 9-6, followed by the 8-3-1 Sebringville Sting at 17 points.
In fifth place are the Belmore Stingers with a record of 8-4 and 16 points, followed by the sixth-place Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers and their record of 7-8 and 14 points and the Fullarton A’s with 11 points and a record of 5-7-1 in seventh place.
The last four teams on the table are all tied at 10 points each: the Walton Brewers (5-8), Brussels Tigers (5-9), Goderich Grizzlies (5-9) and Monkton Muskrats (5-7).
Looking ahead to this week’s action, tonight - Friday, Aug. 21 - the Brussels Bangers will host the Sebringville Sting and the Monkton Muskrats will be in Goderich to play the Grizzlies.
There are five league games on the schedule for Sunday. The Belmore Stingers will host the Goderich Grizzlies, the Sebringville Sting will be in Wroxeter to play the Rippers, the Brussels Tigers will also be in Belmore for a game with the Stingers, the Rippers will also host the Monkton Muskrats in Wroxeter and the Walton Brewers will play the A’s in Fullarton.
On Aug. 25, the Sebringville Sting will host the Walton Brewers in a game originally scheduled to be played on July 21. The next night, the Brussels Tigers will host the Sebringville Sting and the Mitchell Mets will play the Rippers in Wingham.
On Aug. 27, the Fullarton A’s will host the Monkton Muskrats and the Brussels Bangers will be in Milverton for a game with the Millwrights. The next night, the Sebringville Sting will host the Belmore Stingers and the Walton Brewers will be in Goderich to play the Grizzlies.
On Aug. 30, the Sebringville Sting will play the Grizzlies in Goderich and the Fullarton A’s will host the Belmore Stingers.
After that, there’s only one week of action left before the last game on the schedule, which is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Looking back at the week that was, on Aug. 17, the Mitchell Mets beat the Grizzlies in Goderich by a score of 10-3. The Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers were in Fullarton for a game with the A’s that night as well, but a score was unavailable at press time.
On Aug. 14, the Brussels Tigers fell to the Muskrats in Monkton by a score of 7-0 and the Brussels Bangers shut-out the Belmore Stingers by a score of 10-0 at home in Brussels.
In the lone game played on Aug. 13, the Milverton Millwrights hosted the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers and beat them by a score of 3-0. On Aug. 12, the Milverton Millwrights beat the Tigers in Brussels by a score of 10-0 and on Aug. 11, the Brussels Bangers beat the Stingers in Belmore by a score of 10-4.
On Aug. 18, the Monkton Muskrats were to play the Brewers in Walton, but a score for that game was unavailable at press time. Also that night, the Sebringville Sting was scheduled to take on the Stingers in Belmore, but that game was postponed.
On Aug. 19, the Brussels Tigers were in Mitchell to play the Mets, followed by an Aug. 20 game with the A’s in Fullarton. The Walton Brewers also played the Millwrights in Milverton that night, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
