Clinton Radars return to action after lengthy hiatus

After winning their first regular season game in years - a 4-2 victory over the Patriots in Mount Forest on Sept. 12 - the Clinton Radars were home at the Central Huron Community Complex on Friday night, but suffered a 2-1 loss to the Fergus Whalers. The team was in action again the next night in Kincardine where the locals beat the Bulldogs by a score of 4-2 to bring their season record up to 2-1.

 

On Friday night in Clinton, the Whalers opened the scoring with 13:48 left in the first. Ethan Henderson scored with assists from Peyton Trott and Joey Martin, followed by a Trott goal with 12:57 left in the first, assisted by Martin and Mitchell Krasovec.
The Radars scored the only other goal of the game on the power play with 16:10 left in the second. Jack O’Donnell found the back of the net with assists by Kingston Powell and Erick Gulutzen.

 

The Radars had 32 shots on net, while the Whalers had 26. Jack Dalrymple stopped all but two shots for the Radars in a losing effort, while Noah Lundgren earned the win for the Whalers, stopping 31 of the 32 shots he faced.

 

The next night in Kincardine, the Radars beat the Bulldogs by a score of 4-2.

 

The teams traded goals in the first period. Sawyer Olmstead scored for Clinton, assisted by Nathan Bloemberg and Rodney Ansley, with 4:43 left in the first period, followed by an Ayden Hakkers goal for Kincardine on the power play with 1:44 left in the first, assisted by Jackson Hayward-Nelson and Ty McQuillin.

 

In the second period, it was all Clinton. Olmstead scored his second goal of the game on the power play with 2:54 minutes left in the period, assisted by Erick Gulutzen. Then, Myles Phillips scored with 29 seconds left in the period, assisted by Jacob Corriveau and Trent Carter.

 

In the third, the Bulldogs scratched back with a power play goal scored by Tristan Steven with 10:41 left in the period, assisted by Tyler Kelly and Cameron Robillard. However, Jack O’Donnell put the game away for the Radars with just 12 seconds left in the game. The empty-net goal was assisted by Rodney Ansley.

 

Greyson Roth earned the win for the Radars, facing 34 shots, while Blake Beitz was tagged with the loss, facing 29 shots.
The Radars are next in action tonight - Friday, Sept. 25 - hosting the Walkerton Capitals in Clinton, followed by a Saturday game in Wingham against the Ironmen.
