Gladys Mary Forbes Thuell
On Nov. 25, 2025, Gladys Mary Forbes Thuell passed peacefully into heaven with her family by her side.
She was born on March 12, 1927 to Adin and Leila Forbes, growing up in Egmondville along with her eight siblings: Thelma, Ken, Avis, Leona, Verna, Phyllis, Marlene and Lynda.
Gladys leaves behind her daughter, Brenda, (Rick) Mueller, four grandchildren - James (Amber) Mueller, Kathleen Herman, Whitney (Ryan) Smeraldo, and Lindsey Thuell - and six great-grandchildren: Gary McLean, Sam McLean, Reagan Mueller, Reed Mueller, Amanda Herman, and Drew Herman.
Her daughter Sharon predeceased her and she was also predeceased by her husband, Ross, in 1985.
She is survived by her sister Lynda (Barry Kearns) Forbes and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was a woman of strong faith and a true prayer warrior. Her positive attitude and optimism were an encouragement to all who knew her. She was a Charter Member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She loved homemaking and she excelled at it. Gladys was creative and very talented in the arts and in sewing. She made her daughters’ wedding dresses. She gifted her family with many of her art pieces.
Due to her husband’s declining health in 1962, the family moved to the dryer climate in Regina, Saskatchewan and then in 1967 to Phoenix, Arizona. While they lived in Phoenix, she worked as a bookkeeper for Diversified Investments.
For many years, Gladys was a compassionate caregiver for her husband, Ross. In 1991, she relocated to London where she loved going to the dances with her sister Lee. She was an outstanding euchre player and she also loved going to the casino. She found great joy in winning at her favourite machine.
For the last 11 years, she lived at Harbour Hills in Goderich. We are very thankful to the staff and residents there for making her feel so loved and cared for. They became like family to her. She loved euchre games, the hymn sing and all of the many activities. She lived life to the fullest for all of her 98 years. We are thankful to Dr. Stephanie Greenfield and Annerike of Care Partners for their excellent care of Mom. We are blessed for all that Mom taught us and the legacy of love she left for her friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held in the late spring.
Arrangements entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes - Bluewater Chapel, Goderich.
