Helen Grubb (née Buckle)

Helen Grubb (née Buckle) of Blyth passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sept. 12, 2026, in her 83rd year.

 

The loving mother of Donald (Margie) Grubb, Trevor (Kristen) Grubb and Tammy (James) Elphick, Helen was the proud and affectionate grandmother of Regan, Caleigh, Jake, Miya, Joseph and Jessica.

 

Helen will be dearly missed by Bill Vodden, her partner of many years, who brought much happiness and companionship into her life.

 

She was the dear sister of Elizabeth (Don) Moyer, Robert Buckle, Barbara Tait, Allan (Betty Lou) Buckle, Leonard (Rita) Buckle, and Edward (Kathy) Buckle and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

 

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rita (née Schumacher) Buckle, her brother William, her sister Mary, brothers-in-law Gerald Karl and Willard Tait, and sister-in-law Gloria Buckle.

 

Helen will be remembered as a vibrant, independent and hard-working person who approached life with strength and determination. Her family knew her as capable, resourceful and resilient; qualities that carried her through the busy years of raising her children and pursuing her career in municipal administration; and remained part of who she was throughout her life.
Growing up on a farm in Culross Township, Helen learned skills that led her to take great pride in her home and gardens. She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending her flower beds and yard, creating a beautiful and peaceful setting in which to watch birds and nature. She was also a talented cook who will be remembered for family favourites like her baked beans, carrot cake and Christmas cake. 

 

In her later years, Helen shared a love of travel with Bill and they enjoyed visiting many countries around the world. 

 

Friends and relatives were received at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Teeswater on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 3 p.m.

 

Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Teeswater.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Huron-Perth would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

 

The family extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. S. Natuik and the staff of Southbridge Goderich long-term care home for the care and kindness shown to Helen.

 

Helen will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her.
