Historical Bainton's building comes down in Blyth
Last week, the Bainton’s building came down after being fenced off for more than a week. The well-known store had not been in operation for several years and, as a result of the condition of the building, the current owners of the property, Howson and Howson, went ahead with the demolition of the structure. While it had fallen into disrepair due to years of not being used, the building held many memories for long-time residents of the village who remember its history and its place in Blyth’s history.
Citizen founder Keith Roulston, for example, reflected on it in his column this week. See page five to read more. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
