Kingston Axemen win A Championship in 54th Brussels Tigers Tournament

The Kingston Axemen are the winners of the A Division of the 54th annual Brussels Tigers Invitational Tournament, with the Townsend Tide, Tavistock Yard Goats and Monkton Muskrats all similarly claiming victory in the B, C and D Divisions, respectively.

 

Action began on Friday night when the host Brussels Tigers beat the Kitchener Selects by a score of 7-1 and the Walton Brewers beat the Harwood Corners by a score of 4-2. Later that night, the Mitchell Mets downed the Townsend Tide by a score of 7-1, the Tavistock Yard Goats shutout the Delaware Highlanders by a score of 10-0 and the Tavistock Merchants beat the Brussels Bangers by a score of 7-0.

 

The next day, the Kingston Axemen beat the Fullarton A’s by a score of 6-2, the Chatsworth Longhorns fell to the Oxford Bandits by a score of 3-2 and the Georgian Bay Giants beat the Monkton Muskrats by a score of 11-0.

 

As the day went on, in the championship round, the Brussels Tigers beat the Walton Brewers by a score of 8-5, the Mitchell Mets beat the Tavistock Yard Goats by a score of 10-3, the Kingston Axemen beat the Tavistock Merchants by a score of 3-1 and the Georgian Bay Giants beat the Oxford Bandits by a score of 8-1.

 

Over in the consolation round, the Kitchener Selects edged out the Harwood Corners by a score of 4-3, the Townsend Tide beat the Delaware Highlanders by a score of 8-0, the Brussels Bangers shutout the Fullarton A’s by a score of 3-0 and the Chatsworth Longhorns beat the Monkton Muskrats by a score of 12-2.

 

In the championship round, in the A Division, the Mitchell Mets went on to beat the Brussels Tigers by a score of 6-3 and the Kingston Axemen beat the Georgian Bay Giants by a score of 9-1, setting up the A Final between the Mitchell Mets and the Kingston Axemen, which the Axemen won by a score of 7-3.

 

In the B Division, the Tavistock Merchants shutout the Oxford Bandits 2-0 and the Tavistock Yard Goats beat the Walton Brewers by a score of 4-2, setting up an all-Tavistock final, which the Yard Goats won by a score of 7-0.

 

In the C Division, the Chatsworth Longhorns beat the Brussels Bangers 8-2 and the Townsend Tide beat the Kitchener Selects 4-2, leading to the Townsend Tide beating Chatsworth in the finals by a score of 13-2.

 

The Delaware Highlanders, in the D Final, first defeated the Harwood Corners by a score of 6-5. Meanwhile, the Monkton Muskrats beat the Fullarton A’s by a score of 5-4, leading to the final, which Monkton won by a score of 2-1.
