Laurie Jeanne Fischer (formerly Raynard)
Laurie Jeanne Fischer (formerly Raynard) of Listowel passed away at Hospice of Waterloo Region on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in her 59th year, after a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer.
The mother of Dr. Alex (Phil) Raynard of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Josh (Madison) Raynard of Tiverton, and Emma (Will) Raynard of Petersburg, Laurie will always be remembered by their father Dwayne Raynard of Brussels.
She was the special friend of Dave McIntosh of Elmira and the sister of Steven Fischer of Coquitlam, British Columbia. Laurie will also be remembered and loved by her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Laurie was predeceased by her parents Donald and Jeanne (Pearson) Fischer, and grandparents Hartley and Mary (Wilton) Fischer and George and Isabel (Cardiff) Pearson.
Before retiring, Laurie worked as a high school teacher - a role into which she poured her heart. She was passionate about her students, found deep friendships among her fellow teachers, and stayed connected with many of them long after she left the classroom.
At home, she found comfort in crocheting, the companionship of her dogs Willow and Oakley, and the company of those she loved. She enjoyed the chance to travel when she could, taking a few memorable trips that she spoke of often.
Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on June 18, followed by the funeral service, at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, on Thursday, June 19. A reception at Parkview Gardens followed.
Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
