Mary (Haines) McIntosh
At her home on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, Mary (Haines) McIntosh of Wingham passed away suddenly at the age of 95.
The beloved wife of John McIntosh and cherished mother of Susan and Rob LeGrand and Paul McMichael and Edie Mader, Mary was the sister-in-law of Kevin and Edna McIntosh. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families and the Colling cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Freda (Colling) Haines, brothers John (and Grace) and Wilfred (and Hazel Haines) and sisters Margaret (and Roy Bennett) and Helen (and Jim Nininger) and by her first husband Ken McMichael and his siblings Isabel and Bob Bremner, Andrew and Mary McMichael, Marie and Herb Davidson and Alma and Bill Steel.
Mary was a cherished and active member of the community. She could often be found mingling at community events, sharing a cute joke or a favourite story, and delighting others with her wonderful knowledge of the town’s history.
Music was one of her great loves and she enjoyed playing the piano at local seniors’ homes, bringing joy to those around her. She was just as happy on the dance floor and never missed an opportunity to share a dance. She also loved a good game of cards and was quite the card shark!
As a devoted member of the Wingham Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, Mary faithfully played the piano at every meeting, sharing her love of music with her fellow members. Mary leaves behind a lasting legacy of friendship, laughter, music, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her stories, infectious laugh and warm smile will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
A private graveside for the family will be held at the Wingham Cemetery. A public celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Wingham Legion on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 1-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 180 in Mary’s memory.
