Playoffs continue for local Southwest Admirals teams

The playoffs for the local Southwest Admirals teams are now underway with one game already in the books.
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, the U11 A Admirals played the Midwest 49ers in Blyth in the first Admirals’ playoff game of the year. The teams are due to play again on Sunday in Normanby.
Tonight, Friday, Feb. 6, the U16 A team will begin their playoffs with a game against the West Coast White Caps in Zurich, followed by another clash on Feb. 10, this time in Tiverton.
On Feb. 7, the U15 A team will play the West Coast White Caps in Ripley, followed by a second playoff game in as many days on Feb. 8, this time against the Bruce Grey Bulls in Clinton.
The U11 B and U13 B teams both begin their playoffs on Feb. 7 with games against the Bruce Grey Bulls in Southampton and the West Coast White Caps in Ripley, respectively. The U11 B team then plays the Bulls again on Feb. 11, this time in Blyth.
On Feb. 8, the U18 A team will play the Tri-Centre Junior Attack on the road and then again on Feb. 13, this time in Clinton.
On Feb. 10, the U12 A Admirals will begin their playoff journey, taking on the West Coast White Caps in Lucknow and, on Feb. 11, the U14 A team will play the Southeast Surge on the road.
The U10 A and U13 A teams will begin their playoffs on Feb. 14 with games against the Bruce Grey Bulls in Paisley and the Bruce Grey Bulls in Southampton, respectively, while the U15 B Admirals don’t play their first playoff game until Feb. 19 when they head to Tiverton to play the West Coast White Caps.
In tournament action this weekend, the U10 A, U11 A, U12 A and U13 A Admirals teams are all heading to the Rock Cup in St. Marys.
The U10 A Admirals begin play with a game against the host St. Marys Rock today, Friday, Feb. 6, followed by a game with the Kent Cobras that afternoon. The next day, the team will play the Soo Junior Knights with hopes of moving on to championship play.
The U11 A team will play the Southeast Surge and St. Marys Rock on Friday to open the tournament, followed by a Saturday game with the Stratford Warriors.
On Friday, the U12 A team will play the St. Marys Rock and the Mount Brydges Cougars, followed by a Saturday game with the Stratford Warriors.
The U13 A team begins play this afternoon with a game against the Kent Cobras, followed by Saturday games with the Ausable Coyotes and the St. Marys Rock.
Looking back, the U16 A Admirals were in West Niagara for the annual Doug Robinson All-Star Challenge, returning with gold medals around their necks.
The team opened play on Friday with a 4-2 win over the Brant Battalion, followed by a 6-1 win over the Tecumseh Eagles. The next day, the team continued its winning ways, beating the host West Niagara Flying Aces by a score of 5-1.
The Admirals then beat the Pelham Panthers in the semi-finals by a score of 3-2 and then beat the West Niagara Flying Aces again in the finals by a score of 4-0.
The U11 B Admirals were also in West Niagara for the tournament, but didn’t fare nearly as well.
On Friday, the team fell by a score of 4-1 to the Haldimand River Kings and then beat the Port Colborne Sailors by a score of 6-2. The next day, the locals lost to the Mount Brydges Cougars by a score of 4-0, ending their tournament.
In regular season play on Sunday, the U13 B team lost to the Tri-Centre Junior Attack on the road by a score of 5-3, the U13 A team beat the Tri-Centre Junior Attack by a score of 2-1 in Seaforth, the U15 B team beat the Southeast Surge on the road by a score of 5-1, the U12 A team lost to the West Coast White Caps by a score of 3-1 in Ripley, the U14 A team beat the Tri-Centre Junior Attack in Seaforth by a score of 5-1, the U18 A Admirals lost to the West Coast White Caps in Wingham by a score of 3-2 and the U18 B team lost to the Southeast Surge on the road by a score of 8-1.
One day earlier, the U10 A team lost to the Bruce Grey Bulls in Southampton by a score of 8-2, the U13 B Admirals beat the Tri-Centre Junior Attack on the road by a score of 5-4, the U14 A team beat the Southeast Surge by a score of 3-2 in Harriston, the U11 A team beat the Bruce Grey Bulls by a score of 5-4 in Zurich, the U15 B Admirals beat the Bruce Grey Bulls in Southampton by a score of 6-2 and the U18 B team lost to the West Coast White Caps by a score of 1-0 in Brussels.
On Friday, the U12 A Admirals beat the Tri-Centre Junior Attack in Clinton by a score of 7-0, the U11 A team lost to the West Coast White Caps by a score of 6-3 in Lucknow, the U10 A team beat the West Coast White Caps by a score of 9-2 in Zurich, the U18 A team lost to the West Coast White Caps by a score of 3-2 in Clinton, the U14 A team tied the Southeast Surge in Zurich at three and the U18 B team tied the West Coast White Caps in Lucknow at five.
Back on Wednesday, Jan. 28, the U14 A Admirals beat the Bruce Grey Bulls in Blyth by a score of 3-2, the U15 A team lost to the Midwest 49ers in Hanover by a score of 11-4 and the U15 B team beat the Southeast Surge on the road by a score of 3-2. One day earlier, the U16 A team was due to play the Bruce Grey Bulls in Goderich, but that game was cancelled.
On Monday, Jan. 26, the U10 A team lost to the Southeast Surge in Hensall by a score of 3-0, the U13 B Admirals beat the Midwest 49ers in Walkerton by a score of 3-1 and the U15 A team lost to the Southeast Surge in Palmerston by a score of 2-1.
