Roy William Dawson

At Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels on Thursday, March 12, 2026, Roy William Dawson of Wingham passed away at the age of 94.

 

The beloved husband of the late Matilda (Hutchison), who predeceased him in 2003, Roy was the dear dad and father-in-law of Donna and Allan Snowden and the late Arnold Dawson and Connie Dawson.

 

He was the proud grandpa of Melissa Scott, Jodi and Dan Cline, Paul and Corrie Dawson and Shauna Dawson and Wade Benoit, and the great-grandpa of Alena and Nolan Scott, Adelyn, Dylan and Colin Cline and Zachary, Laura, Ryan and Logan Dawson.
Roy was the brother of Florence Machan and Murray and Sonja Dawson. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Jennie (Anderson) Dawson, sisters Lois Dawson, Jean (Alex) Nethery, Mae (Mervin) Ritchie, brother Harold Dawson, great-grandson Nathan Scott and brother-in-law Doug Machan.

 

Visitation was held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Monday, March 16 and the funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, March 17 and a reception followed at the Wingham Columbus Centre.

 

Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery in the spring.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Huronlea Resident’s Council or the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
