Sebringville Sting remain in first place in Huron County Fastball League standings

The Sebringville Sting remain in first place in the Huron County Fastball League standings with 15 points - a full three points clear of the second-place Wingham/Wroxeter Rippers.

 

The Sting boasts a league-leading record of 7-2-1, while the Rippers sit at 6-3. The Brussels Bangers are in third with a record of 5-7 and 10 points, followed by the fourth-place Fullarton A’s with nine points and a record of 4-3-1.

 

There are then five teams tied at eight points each: the Belmore Stingers (4-2), Goderich Grizzlies (4-4), Walton Brewers (4-5), Milverton Millwrights (4-5) and Mitchell Mets (4-4), followed by the Monkton Muskrats in 10th place with a record of 3-5 and six points and the last-place Brussels Tigers with a record of 2-6 and four points.

 

Looking back at the week that was, on July 18, Monkton hosted five games. The Wingham/Wroxeter Rippers beat the Fullarton A’s by a score of 4-3, the Monkton Muskrats beat the Brussels Bangers by a score of 12-1, the Mitchell Mets beat the Brussels Bangers by a score of 9-2 and the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers beat the Mitchell Mets by a score of 7-1. The Fullarton A’s were scheduled to play the Monkton Muskrats that day as well, but a score was unavailable at press time.

 

On July 16, the Millwrights beat the Sebringville Sting by a score of 2-1 in Milverton. One day earlier, on July 15, games between the Belmore Stingers and Brussels Tigers and the Milverton Millwrights and the Mitchell Mets were postponed. On July 14, the Walton Brewers beat the Wingham/Wroxeter Rippers in Walton by a score of 11-9.

 

On July 21, the Belmore Stingers hosted the Mitchell Mets and the Walton Brewers were in Sebringville to play the Sting. The next night, the Brussels Bangers played the Brewers in Walton, the Brussels Tigers hosted the Fullarton A’s and the Goderich Grizzlies were in Mitchell to play the Mets. The next night, the Belmore Stingers were in Milverton to play the Millwrights. Scores for those games were unavailable at press time.

 

On July 26, the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers will play the Stingers in Belmore and, on July 28, the Walton Brewers will host the Sebringville Sting. 

 

There is a trio of games scheduled for July 29: the Brussels Tigers will host the Goderich Grizzlies, the Fullarton A’s will be in Mitchell to play the Mets and the Rippers will host the Milverton Millwrights in Wingham.

 

On July 31, the Goderich Grizzlies will play the Bangers in Brussels before a short break for the Civic Holiday Weekend. Play will then resume on Tuesday, Aug. 4 with the Brussels Tigers taking on the Brewers in Walton and the Sebringville Sting hosting the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers.
