U13, U15 Huron Heat teams head to Cambridge for New Year's Challenge

This weekend, two Huron Heat teams - the U13 B and U15 A squads - will be heading to Cambridge for the 30th annual Cambridge Roadrunners New Year’s Challenge.
Action for the two teams begins on Friday, Jan. 16 when the U13 B team plays the Oshawa Lady Generals and the North York Storm, while the U15 A team plays the Grand River Mustangs and the host Cambridge Roadrunners.
The next day, the U13 B Heat plays the Toronto Leaside Wildcats and the U15 A Heat plays a second Cambridge Roadrunners team and the Waterloo Ravens.
Alternatively, the U9 C and U13 C Heat teams will head to Dorchester and Belmont, respectively, for the annual B.A.D. Tournament. The U9 C team will play the Walkerton Capitals and Mooretown Lady Flags on Friday, followed by Saturday games with the Bluewater Hawks and Stratford Aces. Meanwhile, the U13 C Heat will play the Lucknow/Wingham 86ers and Belmont Blazers on Friday, followed by games on Saturday with the Lambton Attack and the South Bruce Blades.
In regular season action this weekend, beginning on Saturday, the U9 HL Heat will host the Mooretown Lady Flags in Seaforth and the U18 BB Heat will play the Woodstock Wildcats in Clinton. On Sunday, the U15 BB Heat will play the Lucan Irish, the U13 A Heat will play the Stratford Aces and the U9 HL team will play the Lambeth Lancers White team, all in Clinton, while, on the road, the U11 A Heat will play the Bluewater Hawks and the Senior C team will play Monkton.
Looking back, on Sunday, the U7 Heat hosted another successful U7 Jamboree in Clinton at the Central Huron Community Complex, bringing together teams from all over the region.
In regular season action that day, the U9 HL Heat played the South Huron Sabres on the road and the U9 B Heat hosted the London Devilettes in Brussels, but scores were not kept for those games. The U13 B Heat beat the London Devilettes by a score of 2-0 in Brussels, the U11 HL Heat tied the Lucan Irish at two on the road, the U15 B Heat tied the West Oxford Inferno at one on the road and the U18 B Heat lost to the St. Thomas Panthers in Seaforth by a score of 3-1.
Also that day, the U11 A Heat played the St. Thomas Panthers on the road and the Senior C team hosted Milverton in Brussels, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
In tournament action over the weekend, the U11 B Heat were in New Tecumseth for the annual ODR Winter Classic. The team opened with a 4-0 win over the Nepean Wildcats on Friday, Jan. 9, followed by a 6-2 win over the Durham West Lightning later that evening. The team then lost to the Ottawa Valley Thunder on Saturday afternoon by a score of 5-2 before beating the Haldimand River Cats by a score of 7-0 that night.
However, on Sunday, the U11 B Heat played the Ottawa Valley Thunder again and lost by a score of 2-1.
The U13 HL Heat were also in action last weekend, heading to Wilmot for the annual Kyla Kowalik Memorial Tournament, where they won gold.
The team opened play on Friday, Jan. 9 with a 1-0 win over the Brantford Ice Cats, followed by a 1-0 loss to the Lakeshore Lightning later that day. On Saturday, the team beat the South County Predators Blue team twice - first by a score of 5-0 to wrap up round-robin play and then again by a score of 3-0 in the semi-finals.
On Sunday, in the finals, the Heat took on the Kitchener Lady Rangers and beat them by a score of 3-0 to win gold.
In regular season play on Saturday, the U9 C and U9 HL Heat teams played a pair of Mooretown Lady Flags teams in Seaforth and the U9 B Heat played the Grand River Mustangs on the road, but scores were not kept for those games.
The U11 C Heat lost to the Capitals in Walkerton by a score of 3-2, the game between the U13 B Heat and the Bluewater Hawks on the road ended in a 1-1 tie, the U15 A Heat beat the Sarnia Lady Sting by a score of 3-1 on the road, the U13 A Heat beat the Bluewater Hawks by a score of 2-0 on the road and the U13 B Heat beat the Lambton Attack by a score of 6-0, also on the road. The U11 A Heat hosted the Lambeth Lancers that day, but a score was unavailable at press time.
There was only one regular season game on the schedule for Friday, Jan. 9 and it saw the U15 B Heat host the Woodstock Wildcats in Seaforth, but come up short by a score of 1-0.
One day earlier, on Thursday, Jan. 8, the U18 C Heat lost to the South Huron Sabres in Hensall by a score of 3-0 and the U11 C Heat lost to the South Huron Sabres by a score of 1-0 in Seaforth.
Back on Tuesday, Jan. 6, the U11 B Heat beat the Wilmot Wolverines in Seaforth by a score of 3-2. The team was in action again on Tuesday, Jan. 13 in Seaforth, playing the Twin Centre Hericanes, but a score was unavailable at press time.
