U9 Blyth Brussels Crusaders team take on Silver Stick competition

Over the weekend, the U9 MD and LL Blyth Brussels Crusaders teams were both in tournament action, with the former in Parkhill for the regional Silver Stick Tournament and the latter in Embro for its annual Hockey Day in Canada get-together.
The U9 MD team began tournament play on Friday, Jan. 16 with a 3-2 loss to the Dresden Junior Kings, followed by a 6-1 loss to the East Lambton Eagles the next morning, followed by a 4-1 win over the Mooretown Junior Flags later that evening. However, that was not enough to propel the Crusaders to championship play and that was the end of their tournament.
In Embro for Hockey Day in Canada, the U9 LL Crusaders opened play on Friday with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Dorchester Dragons followed by a 5-3 win over the Paris Wolfpack. The next day, the team lost in the semi-finals by a score of 6-5 to the AEMHA Ice Dogs, ending their tournament.
In regular season action over the weekend, on Sunday, the U15 team beat the TCDMHA Rebels in Tara by a score of 6-5 while the game between the U11 Burgundy Crusaders and the Saugeen Valley Steelheads in Blyth that day ended tied at one.
One day earlier, the U11 Black team beat the Goderich Sailors White team in Blyth by a score of 5-4. Meanwhile the U7 Burgundy and White teams played a pair of South Bruce teams in Blyth and the U8 Burgundy Crusaders played the Mid-Huron Huskies in Clinton, but scores were not kept for those games.
Back on Wednesday, Jan. 14, the U13 team beat the Thunder in Zurich by a score of 8-2, while the U8 Burgundy and White teams played two Central Perth teams in Brussels, but scores were not kept for those games. On Monday, Jan. 12, the U11 Burgundy team lost to the Saugeen Valley Steelheads by a score of 4-0 on the road and the U13 team fell to the Mid-Huron Huskies at home in Blyth by a score of 5-0.
Looking ahead to this weekend, on Friday, Jan. 23, the U11 Burgundy Crusaders will host the Mitchell Meteors Black team in Brussels, the U9 MD team will play the Drayton Defenders on the road, the U11 Black team will play the Kincardine Kinucks in Brussels, the U21 team will host the Listowel Cyclones, also in Brussels, and the U18 team will be in Lions Head to play the Bruce Peninsula Predators.
On Saturday, Jan. 24, the U6, U7 Burgundy and White teams will all play their Mid-Huron Huskies equivalents in Blyth, while the U9 LL Crusaders will host the Goderich Sailors in Brussels, the U11 Burgundy team will be on the road to take on the Saugeen Valley Steelheads, the U8 White team will play the Mid-Huron Huskies in Blyth, the U13 team will host the Kincardine Kinucks in Brussels and the U18 team will be on the road to play the Owen Sound Junior Attack Black team.
The next day, the U9 LL Crusaders will play the Zurich Thunder, the U7 Burgundy and White teams will play a pair of Mitchell Meteors teams and the U11 Black team will play the Goderich Sailors White team, all on the road.
In weekday action, the U13 team will host the Mid-Huron Huskies in Blyth on Monday, Jan. 26, followed by a game between the U18 Crusaders and the Central Perth Predators in Brussels the next night and a Jan. 28 game between the U9 LL Crusaders and the Mid-Huron Huskies in Bayfield.
On Thursday, Jan. 29, the U13 Crusaders will take on the Minto Mad Dogs in Palmerston and the U21 team will travel to Shallow Lake to play the Lakers.
